Always Lots of Heinies at the Zoo by Ayun Halliday

This book is suited for children 4 and up and is less of an amusing story than The Tushy Book. The language is more serious, although the words heinies, fanny and tushy are used and are sure to be a hit with the kids.

This book focuses on the rear ends of various animals and birds. The illustrations are beautiful and very realistic- my favourite illustration is that of the jellyfish. The illustrations introduce children to animals that may be new to them, such as the kinkajou and the bandicoot, but Dan Santat has also made sure that favourite animals are also well represented.

This book is a fun way to introduce kids to new animals and would be great introduction to a unit on animals.
