Today is the Day of Pink! Are you participating?
In honour of the day here are some books that are pink (or at least are about thing that are pink!)
The Wonderful Pigs of Jillian Jigs by Phoebe Gilman. We join Jillian after she has finally tidied up that messy room of hers. During the cleaning she finds a jar of buttons- they look like pig’s noses don’t they? With the help of her friends Peter and Rachel she turns her room into a stuffed pig factory- creating Scottish pigs and princess pigs and an alien pig.! The goal is to sell them and make some money, but when parting with her newly made friends proves to be too difficult Jillian comes up with a way to save the day.
If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff. Another funny, well illustrated book by Laura Numeroff (author of If You Give a Moose a Muffin). The repetition makes it great for children who are reading picture books on their own and is also fun to read aloud.
A couple other pink books that are very popular right now are Angellina Ballerina by Katharine Holabird and Pinkalicious by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann. Any of these books would be great for parents or teachers to use to celebrate Day of Pink with their students or children.
