Winnie the Pooh Movie

The new Winnie the pooh movie is out and it’s getting some great reviews and a solid 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s quite short at a running time of 69 minutes and I’m not sure if the reason for this is that Disney knows their target audience isn’t going to be able to sit for much more than an hour for a movie that doesn’t have explosions, tons of special effects and isn’t filmed in 3D or if they just couldn’t stretch the book’s material to make it into a longer movie. I’ll hold off on the judgement until I’ve seen the movie myself.

It’s tough watching a movie that’s been made from a favourite childhood story- will they get the story right? Will they add too much, or take too much away? Will the actors voices make the characters sound how I imagined them to be? I loved Winnie the Pooh as a child, I remember reading the stories from a set of soft cover books given to me by my Grandfather, which may have been given away as a promotion from a restaurant or gas station. I even had a record with some Winnie the Pooh stories and songs on it. I’m hoping the movie is a good as my memories of the stories are.
