Happy Roald Dahl Day!

September 13 is Roald Dahl Day as well as his Birthday. This year it’s also the 50th anniversary of Dahl’s book James and the Giant Peach. Small Print Toronto is having a story writing contest for children ages 8-12, more info here.

There is also an American Roald Dahl Day page found here.

Roald Dahl was well known for his fantastic and whimsical children’s books such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach and The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Hugely popular, those 5 titles were also made into movies (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was made into a movie twice!).

My favourite Roald Dahl book was one of his picture books, called The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, a very fun story. I’ll be celebrating his day by re-reading that book. What’s your favourite Roald Dahl book?
